Why do we take a reservation fee for your space?
The reservation fee holds the space for your car and shows the driver that you are serious about getting your vehicle moved. Drivers want to ensure that your car will be ready when they arrive because it is costly for an 80 foot truck to arrive at your door. Beware of companies that charge you up front BEFORE securing your carrier. These companies usually provide inferior service after they are paid!
Why should I use a broker?
Brokers have over 6,000 independent carriers to choose from when looking for a carrier to fit your needs. Brokers also get better pricing because they provide the carriers with a steady stream of business. Most carriers do not have time to book their own loads and depend upon licensed and bonded brokers to do this for them.
What if I can’t be there when my vehicle is picked up or delivered?
We prefer that you are available when your car is picked up and delivered to ensure a smooth hand-off. If it isn’t possible you can designate a relative, co-worker or friend to hand your keys to the driver or be present for the delivery of your vehicle. You need to make sure your designated representative is aware that an inspection will be done and that they must sign off on the bill of lading. Remember the driver will need the balance due in cash upon delivery.
Do large vehicles cost more to ship?
Yes, because they take up more space on the carrier then a standard passenger vehicle and weigh more. Drivers have a weight limit on their carrier so vehicles that weigh more cost more to transport. Please make your representative aware if you are shipping a full size truck, van or SUV’ for an accurate quote. Your driver needs at least 5″ clearance from the ground up to load your vehicle safely. Oversize wheels, racks, lifts, overhead lights and limo size will affect your quote.
Which should I choose open or enclosed transport?
On an open carrier your vehicle is exposed to weather and road conditions just as it is when you are driving it yourself. It is the most affordable option and most often used. When you choose an enclosed carrier the vehicle is fully protected from weather or road conditions. You can expect your vehicle be in the same condition on delivery as it was picked up in at a 50-60% higher rate.
What payment options do I have?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover card by phone to reserve your space. All economy rates include a cash only balance due to the driver on delivery.
When is a vehicle over sized?
Vehicles can be over sized if they have: lift kits (body or suspension) dual rear wheels, over sized tires or roof racks. Rates are based mostly on the size and weight of a vehicle, the distance of the transport. On some routes seasonality effects supply and demand that dramatically shift prices.
How long does transporting my car take?
East to West Coast Approx. 7-10 days
North to South Approx. 3-5 days
Mid-West to East Coast Approx. 5-7 days
This is typical, but please call us before making plans.
Can I schedule a time for my car to be picked up and delivered?
If you give us enough lead time (at least 7 days) we will do our best to work within a two day pick up window. However we can not guarantee times and dates because drivers are working with the available time frames of many customers at once. If you need expedited pick up you will have to pay more than other customers to get a carrier to choose your vehicle instead.
Is my car insured during transit?
The Department of Transportation requires carriers to have a MINIMUM of $100,000 in cargo insurance per load to maintain their license. Monarch ONLY uses carriers that are fully licensed so your vehicle will be fully insured bumper to bumper during the transport with no deductible to you. Acts of God such as hail, hurricanes, floods or avalanches, etc), and road debris that can cause damage to paint and undercarriages (like when you drive on the highway) are not covered. Your insurance should be in place for non-driver error damages. Damage is extremely rare, but if this concerns you, you should consider an enclosed carrier at the higher rate.
Will you ship my car if it’s inoperable?
Yes, but it must be noted at the time you place the order. If the vehicle is not running or operable, an additional fee of $75-$100 may be added because ti takes longer to load and unload. It is your responsibility to make sure your vehicle is in good working condition.
What if there is damage when my vehicle arrives??
Let the driver know that the damage is new and was not noted at pick up on the bill of lading. Any new damage should be documented at the time of delivery by you in writing on the bill of lading before the driver leaves. Otherwise it will be very difficult to be reimbursed for he damage. Please notify us within 24 hours if there is a problem and file the claim with the carrier directly. You will need to submit both bills of lading and two written estimates from authorized repair shops. Remember the Carrier’s responsibility begins when the vehicle owner signs the bill of lading at pick up and ends when the owner signs the bill of lading at delivery.
